AMAZING!! I've been checking these things out a lot lately and I'm only getting more and more excited to try to build one. The new way to use 70% less wood and instead of smoke it exhausts mostly water vapor and CO2.
I first began learning about these innovative new stoves/heaters/fireplaces from Permies. |
I found someone who finally figured out to manufacture them in a simple fashion and I am very impressed with their design. Quite pricey but looks to be perfectly efficient for it's size. These and an earlier model made of concrete are found at Dragon Heaters. All it's missing is some "mass" to heat up and reciprocate the heat it creates! |
Here's one with a modern look called the Altaire by Zaug Stoves at www.zaugstoves.com. Their design is very attractive and slim and it seems that they're licensed or getting licensed to make them so they meet the codes for home use. |
Or if you're looking for something small to enjoy on your porch, here's a DIY pocket rocket mass heater. I found some very detailed instructions here and made one from some empty cans. My wife and kids roasted marshmallows as the snow/rain came down and had a great time! |
